Privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
CyberSignal has no accounts and we do not build profiles of the people who use it. This policy explains the little we process to keep the site running, what other companies see when you use it, how advertising works, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are
CyberSignal (cybersignal.net) is owned and operated by Freeroam LLC (“freeroam.ai”, “we”, “us”), 206 7th Ave S, Clear Lake, SD 57226, United States. We are responsible for the processing described here. Privacy questions and requests: privacy@freeroam.ai.
2. What we collect
- Using the site needs no account. We never ask for your name. We ask for an email address only if you choose to sign in (to buy or manage Pro) or to get the weekly newsletter.
- Abuse prevention. To stop any one visitor overloading the free public services behind the site, our server counts requests per visitor. A visitor is identified by a one-way, salted hash of their IP address. The address itself is not stored, the salt is replaced regularly, and the counts are kept in memory for at most an hour.
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and request details to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, and may keep short-lived security logs under its own privacy policy.
- On your device. We store a few flags in your browser’s session storage:
cybersignal.booted, so the start-up animation does not replay on every page, andcybersignal.landed, so only the first page of a visit on a phone opens the camera wall. Both are deleted when you close the tab. If you sign in, we set one cookie of our own,cs_session, which keeps you signed in for 30 days; without signing in, we set none. - If you sign in. Signing in works by an emailed link, with no password. We store your email address and when your account was made; the link itself works once, for 15 minutes; and each signed-in browser has a session that lasts 30 days. Links and sessions are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form. Our email provider, Resend, delivers the sign-in emails.
- If you buy Pro. Payment is taken by Stripe on its own payment page; we never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us the outcome, and we keep your plan, its status, your Stripe customer number and, for Founders, your Founder number. Stripe keeps the payment record, your billing address and the tax details it needs, under its own privacy policy.
- If you subscribe to the newsletter. Your email address and when you subscribed are kept by Kit, the service that sends the weekly email for us. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- If you email us, we receive your address and what you write, and use them only to reply.
We do not collect precise location: the map shows what you choose to look at, and the area you view is not recorded by us.
3. Advertising
CyberSignal is free and paid for by ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure them, and — where you allow it — personalise them based on your visits to this and other websites. Details of each cookie are in our cookie policy.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: you are asked for consent through Google’s consent message before advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time through “Privacy choices” at the foot of our pages.
- United States: you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising through Google’s message for US state privacy laws, through “Privacy choices”, or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser — we treat that signal as an opt-out and ask Google for non-personalised ads.
- Anyone can turn off personalised ads in Google’s Ad Settings or opt out of many vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
- How Google uses information from sites that show its ads: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
4. What other services see
Camera images and most live data are fetched by our server and passed on to you, so the agencies and data services behind them do not see your IP address. Some things your browser has to load directly, and those providers see your IP address and what was requested:
- NASA (GIBS) and the USGS — satellite and aerial imagery for the maps.
- OpenFreeMap — road, building and place-name map data, and the lettering for map labels.
- Amazon Web Services — terrain elevation for 3D maps (the AWS Open Data terrain tiles).
- DeFlock — mapped plate-reader locations in the US and Canada.
- Caltrans and Statens vegvesen — live traffic video, which your browser plays straight from these transport agencies when you open a video camera.
- Google — advertising, once ads are running (see the cookie policy).
5. Why we process it (legal bases)
- Keeping the site secure, available and free of abuse (rate limiting, hosting logs): our legitimate interest in running a safe service.
- Advertising cookies and personalised ads in the EEA, UK and Switzerland: your consent.
- Your account and Pro: to provide the service you asked for (performing our contract with you).
- Payment and tax records: our legal obligations.
- The newsletter: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
- Replying to your emails: our legitimate interest in answering you.
6. Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information for money, and we never share our members’ or subscribers’ email addresses with anyone for their own use. Our service providers process data for us as described above: Cloudflare (hosting and our database), Google (advertising), Stripe (payments), Resend (sign-in emails) and Kit (the newsletter). Under some US state laws, letting advertising cookies run can count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising; you can opt out as described in section 3. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
7. How long we keep it
- Hashed request counters: up to one hour, in memory only.
- Hosting security logs: as set by Cloudflare, typically days.
- Emails: as long as needed to deal with your message.
- Sign-in links: 15 minutes. Signed-in sessions: 30 days, or until you sign out.
- Your account: until you ask us to delete it. Cancelling Pro does not delete it.
- Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (usually up to seven years), even after an account is deleted.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Advertising cookies: as set by Google; see the cookie policy.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it; we apply the rights of the California Consumer Privacy Act to everyone. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you also have the rights to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority. Unless you have signed in or subscribed, we hold almost nothing that identifies you, and most requests are about advertising data, which Google holds; we will help you reach it. To delete your account, email us from its address. Email privacy@freeroam.ai. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
9. Children
CyberSignal is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA and UK), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security and transfers
The site is served only over HTTPS with strict security headers. Its database holds members’ accounts and Pro status only, with sign-in links and sessions stored in hashed form. We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries under their own safeguards.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
