Two independent passes. EXIF recovers a recorded fix when one survives; GeoCLIP infers a location from the pixels alone when it does not. They are reported separately and never merged, because one is a claim made by the camera and the other is a guess made by a model.
GeoCLIP — Vivanco et al., NeurIPS 2023. MIT licensed, self-hosted, no per-query cost. Chosen over GeoSpy/Raven, which went licence-gated in April 2026, and over StreetCLIP, which is non-commercial only.
